What ZYN is — and who owns it
ZYN is a nicotine-pouch brand of Swedish Match. Philip Morris International acquired Swedish Match in 2022 and is its sole owner. ZYN is the brand, Swedish Match is the operating company, and PMI is the parent.
PMI states that the nicotine used in ZYN is extracted from the tobacco plant, while no trace elements of tobacco remain in the finished pouch. “Tobacco-leaf-free nicotine pouch” therefore describes the product more accurately than wording suggesting the nicotine has no tobacco-plant origin.
Mini, Slim and market-specific ranges
ZYN is made in Mini and Slim formats, with strength levels that vary by market. In this collection, mint runs from Gentle Mint and Cool Mint through Spearmint and Apple Mint to Cool Mint Ice, Menthol Ice and Peppermint Strong. Citrus is covered by Citrus and Lemon Spritz; dark fruit by Black Cherry and Blackcurrant Ice; lighter fruit by Peach, Red Fruits, Red Berry Fizz, Watermelon Mint and Blueberry Mint. Coffee, Black Licorice, Violet Licorice and Cactus Spice sit outside the mint and fruit families.
Nicotine content, net weight, pouch count and availability differ between markets and are listed on each Swepouch product page; the strength guide gives cross-brand context. A specification from the UK, US or another market does not carry over to a different product simply because both cans carry the ZYN name.
